Treo lays the first cornerstone for the future
Announcing our groundbreaking ceremony for the future as our EMC laboratory expands and moves to its new home in Neumünster.
With the constantly changing requirements and technological advancements of the market, Treo is growing and expanding to adjust to this change. The current premises in Kiel can no longer keep up with the growth of the business, therefore a new sustainable EMC laboratory will be built in Neumünster.
In order to find the perfect space, Treo worked with Wirtschaftsagentur Neumünster GmbH. The new laboratory will be finished by the end of the year. It’s site is close to the well-known designer outlet centre, which can be easily reached with various forms of transport.
The new build is attractive to many stakeholders; Treo will be creating new jobs, setting up more modern testing stations and designing customer friendly premises. Additional investments in test equipment will almost close the existing gaps in the accredited standards scope, enabling us to meet even more customer requirements from a single source.
The new proximity to our Hamburg location not only simplifies cooperation between the two branches, but also increases efficiency - from which everyone ultimately benefits.
We look forward to a brighter future and new, exciting projects.
And of course we will keep you up to date!
Quality, efficiency and effectiveness – and some space for a few laughs.

Successful days at the SMM 2018 in Hamburg
From 4.-7. September the worlds leading maritime trade fair took place in Hamburg. Treo was part of it – and for the first time represented on two „Decks“.
The maritime fair in Hamburgs exhibition halls brought together about 50000 trade visitors from 120 countries and offered a vibrant program with the focus on trends in the global maritime industry. Topics like digitization and green shipping presented by 2289 exhibitors from 69 nations made the event a colorful and innovative one.
Treo was present at two exhibition stands and welcomed visitors firstly at the northern german shared booth with the WTSH and secondly in the „Maritime 3D Printing Show Area“. At the center of the new exhibition area was the technology of 3D-printing and it’s advantages for the shipbuilding industry, which even more underlined Frank Coles words, the digital transformation would slowly reach the maritime sector.
Treo contributed alongside the Maritime Cluster and other experts and was available to answer questions of trade visitors, who had the possibility to watch additive manufacturing live and on the spot. Four steps illustrated the Supply Chain of 3D-printing as well as economical and ecological advantages of the technology. How essential the verification of function and durability of printed objects is and how our laboratories come into play here, was clarified.
Important visitors made our stay at the fair even more special: The economic senator Mr. Horch as well as state senator Dr. Rohlfs took their time to visit the booth and were quickly involved into interesting conversations – for example with our trainees.
The days at the SMM have been successful and exciting for us. Besides presenting our broad portfolio with special services for the shipbuilding industry, we were more than pleased to be part of the „Maritime 3D Printing Show Area“. We are looking forward to keep an eye on maritime trends and to be present at the next SMM again.

New system for dynamic inclination testing
Treo extends the possibilities for wave simulation
Using our new inclination testing rig, we can now also carry out dynamic testing on larger test pieces.
The correct function of marine products with moving parts must be ensured even under severe wave conditions. To guarantee this, the type approval for these products requires static and dynamic inclination tests. A special challenge here is the dynamic testing, where the test pieces must be tilted with defined displacements and velocities and remain functional.
Our new test rig creates sinusoidal wave movements with adjustable angles and velocities. Since it is considerably larger than its predecessor, test pieces weighing several hundred kilograms can also be tested. The test rig complies with the standard IACS E10 and all classification rules, as well as US Coast Guard specifications. The tests are accredited by DAkkS and certified by DNVGL. Furthermore, the tests are approved by the US Coast Guard for the testing of bilge water equipment and water treatment plants.

The sun now shines all year round at Treo!
Our new xenon weathering chamber allows us to simulate the complete spectrum of sunlight.
If your products are exposed to sunlight, this can lead to material changes over time, especially in conjunction with moisture and heat. As well as undesirable changes in appearance, this also often causes functional damage to the components. Especially for products made of plastic or with plastic coating, material ageing from sun exposure can play a major part.
Weathering damage occurs not only outdoors, but also inside, e.g. behind window glass. Since the impact of weathering varies considerably with the different climatic conditions, the test equipment to simulate these conditions must be as flexible as possible.
Our new xenon weathering chamber allows us to simulate the complete spectrum of sunlight. The unit is very flexibly equipped, so that we are able to cover a wide variety of the common international standards. It is equipped with an optional water spray function and allows both black panel and black standard temperature control. Furthermore, various filters - e.g. window glass - are available.
We are happy to offer you further options on request. Please contact us!

Welcome aboard – the “Maritimes Cluster Norddeutschland“ came for a visit
On 4th of July we opened our doors and welcomed the members of the “Maritimes Cluster Norddeutschland“.
The reason for the visit?
We were part of the pilot project of the “Cluster“ and presented our company to the other members of the Hamburg region. The goal of this whole event was and will always be to get to know each other better, to network and to understand “what everyone else is actually doing.“
On this day it was three companies of the Hamburg region who opened their doors for the other members.
At our laboratory in Hamburg we welcomed the group of participants and showed them our premises, followed by a demonstration of two of our test procedures. Firstly, we performed a dynamic inclination test with our new wave simulator and used a coffee machine as an example. Secondly, we demonstrated a vibration test with a touch panel PC as a product example.
All in all it was a very successful day for everyone involved – the members as well as the organizer of the project itself. Everyone was very interested and had some intensive talks during the whole day, which made the project a huge success.
You will be able to find future dates on the website of the “Maritimes Cluster Norddeutschland”.

Boarding completed - AIX 2017
Back at our laboratory - we draw a positive balance!
At our Treo booth we welcomed many visitors and customers to network. Especially due to interesting conversations with old and new contacts, the whole event became a very successful one. A relaxed but also very professional atmosphere was the perfect condition to inform interested visitors about our new optimizations in the field of rapid decompression tests.
Our next stop is the UDT (Undersea Defence Technology exhibition/conference) in May 2017.
Further informations will follow soon.
Rapid decompression tests with an improved test system
An important qualification test for components and products of the aviation industry is the simulation of rapid decompression in the aircraft cabin.
At our environmental simulation laboratory in Hamburg we are now able to perform altitude and decompression tests with high-speed pressure changes.
Instead of the usual speed which is 10-15 seconds to reach the altitude pressure, our new test chamber needs less than 2 seconds!
Even more demanding requirements like decompression curves according to Boeing standards can be fulfilled without any problems. All our tests in this area are accredited and performed according to customer-specific demands.

Bye Bye CO2
In our environmental simulation laboratory in Hamburg we are now raising the green flag: We say goodbye to harmful emissions and welcome our new energy concept.
Our demanding environmental simulation tests require powerful and efficient test systems which consume a high amount of energy due to physical reasons. Therefore, sustainable supply of energy is of major importance to us.
In corporation with hit-Technopark, the officially certified environmental partner of the Free and Hanseatic City of Hamburg, we reduce and compensate the CO2 emissions now.
As the first building in the hit-Technopark, that owns a combined heat and power plant (CHP), we are now able to produce our own electricity besides heating and cooling. However, it is not possible to completely avoid CO2 emissions while heating up combinded heat and power plants (CHP). But - to neutralize the low amounts of CO2 emissions we continuously plant new trees in the Brazilian rainforest.
